Medine and Smith work together

Pilgrims 2-2 Worcester City

Conference North

Boston made a few enforced changes for this game against Worcester City. David Galbraith and Stewart Talbot were out injured and Jon Froggatt was serving the first match of a two match suspension following his sending off at Burscough. This gave new signing from Boston Town - striker Jon Rowan - a place in the starting line-up. Jon Stevenson returned up front after missing three games through injury. Ashley Nicholls also came back into midfield. Boston went in front after just three minutes. A free kick was awarded after Jon Stevenson was clipped while taking a shot and Tony CRANE took the kick quickly before the Worcester defence got organised and the ball sailed into the net. Worcester had a good effort on fifteen minutes but Chris Smith blasted over Chris Wright's goal. Just before half time Worcester had a great chance to equalise when Adam Webster met a cross from Peter Doran but his header powered into the ground and bounced over the bar.Worcester thought they had equalised on the hour when Nwadike put the ball in the net but the linesman flagged for offside. Lee Thompson then came on for Stevenson who had picked up a knock just before half time.

Worcester again thought they had equalised when an effort by Craig Wilding looked like it had crossed the line before Chris Wright pushed it out, but the referee decided it was no goal. Eight minutes from time Boston had their first real chance since scoring their early goal. Adam Smith broke down the right, threaded the ball through to Lee Thompson who picked out Matt O'Halloran who one and one with keeper Danny McDonnell produced a poor shot that was easily saved. THOMPSON then looked like he had sealed the points for Boston when he headed home following a corner. His goal shirt removing scoring celebration earning a booking. A minute later NWADIKE got a goal back. Worcester then almost equalised but Chris Wright made a superb save. Matt O'Halloran then got booked twice in succession, first for dissent then for not moving back for a free kick, so Boston were down to ten men. Then Worcester did finally equalise when substitute Troy WOOD headed home a minute from time. After the match Tommy Taylor said: "We was rubbish today. We was lucky to come away with a draw at the end of the day."
