The odd one out

The popular BBC TV satirical comedy quiz "Have I Got News for You?" has a round where the teams have to pick the "odd one out" of a group of four people. With such problems there usually isn't a unique answer and the team normally manage to come up with a few humerous suggestions of their own for possible solutions. The trick to coming up with the "correct" solution is often to find out what the four people have in common.

The puzzle

See if you can work out why I think one of the following four former Boston United players is the odd one out.

The solution

All four former Boston United players have scored a goal at Wembley. Chris Cook is the odd one out because he is the only one who scored his goal for Boston United.

After putting the puzzle together I also noticed that three of the four had gone on to be managers. Freddy Tunstall at Boston, Keith Alexander at Northwich Victoria and Lincoln City, Brian Fidler at Burton Albion. So again Chris Cook is the odd one out!
