In 1981 Games Magazine published a new type of puzzle that consisted of an abbreviated phrase in the form of an equation. You just had to work out what the phrase referred to. For example, given the equation:

9 = P in the S.S.

The solution is:

9 = Planets in the Solar System.

Here are some more "language equations" to solve. Some are football related, some aren't.

- 1 = W on a U.
- 4 = N on P.E.S.
- 11 = P in a F.T.
- 12 = S of the Z.
- 12 = Y of P.S. from G.
- 18 = H on a G.C.
- 29 = D in F in a L.Y.
- 32 = D.F. at which W.F.
- 50 = W to L.Y.L.
- 200 = P. for P.G. in M.
