Another pre-season victory was chalked up by Boston United as they brushed aside Wyberton in a 7-1 win at the Causeway. The Pilgrims started the game in dominant fashion, and as early as the fifth minute, Boston opened the scoring when the hugely impressive Kenny Cramman squared to Andrew STANHOPE to score. The lead was doubled in the 17th minute, when Lee HOWARTH headed home, after a Stanhope corner. CRAMMAN added the third on the half-hour, rifling in from 20 yards. Early in the second half, Micky NUTTELL scrambled the ball home for number four. Manager Steve Evans then rang the changes bringing on eight substitutes.

And almost immediately, Leigh TAYLOR headed home Paul Raynor's pinpoint cross. The latter's passing and ball skills were a notable feature throughout. Wyberton grabbed a goal back in the 66th minute, when Lee ORREY's deflected drive wrong-footed substitute goalkeeper Scott Kendrick. Taylor was denied a second when his header was tipped away by Cook before ELDING added number six with a cool finish. Andrew Markham saw a fierce drive beaten away by Wyberton's substitute goalkeeper Nick Maddison in the 69th minute, and then Adie HAYES headed home Boston's seventh.
